Xiaomi SU7 electric: price, range, and release date in France in 2027

The Xiaomi SU7 electric sedan was completely redesigned in January 2026. With 411,800 vehicles delivered in 2025 (all ranges combined) and an Ultra version that holds the Nürburgring record for a production electric car, the SU7 is one of the most ambitious sedans on the market today. It will not be available in France until 2027 at the earliest, but the technical data and Chinese prices already give an idea of the impact it could have on the European market. Here is everything you need to know to decide whether it is better to wait or opt for an alternative that is available now.

Estimated European prices

Without a factory in Europe, importing will incur additional costs. Since October 2024, the EU has been applying increased customs duties on electric vehicles manufactured in China. Xiaomi falls into the "other cooperating manufacturers" category, which means 10% basic duty + 20.7% compensatory surcharge = approximately 30.7% import tax. Added to this are transportation, certification, and adaptation costs (notably for the European CCS2 plug). As a result, the entry-level version could start at between €35,000 and €40,000, positioning the SU7 directly against the Tesla Model 3 (€36,990) and the BYD Seal (€46,990). This is a formidable and aggressive positioning.

Note: in January 2026, Brussels published guidelines for a minimum price system negotiated with Beijing, which could mitigate these duties if an agreement is reached. The final price will therefore also depend on the outcome of EU-China trade negotiations.

Range and performance: the complete technical specifications of the SU7 2026

Increased range thanks to high-voltage architecture

The 2026 version of the SU7 upgrades the electrical architecture to 752 V on the Standard and Pro versions and to 897 V on the Max. This technical development improves energy efficiency and charging speed. The SU7 Pro 2026 now claims 902 km in the CLTC cycle, or approximately 680 to 720 km in WLTP (the more realistic European standard). Here are the estimates by version:

Estimated WLTP range: -20 to -25% compared to CLTC, the standard convention for Chinese vehicles not yet approved in Europe.

In terms of charging, the SU7 Max 2026 claims to recover 670 km in 15 minutes at a compatible high-power charging station. To take full advantage of this when it arrives in Europe, fast charging stations capable of delivering more than 300 kW of direct current will be needed, such as those in the Electra network (up to 400 kW).

SU7 Ultra: Nürburgring record and supercar performance

The Ultra version is Xiaomi's technological showcase. Its three motors develop 1, 548 hp and 1,770 Nm of torque. It goes from 0 to 62 mph in 1.98 seconds, 124 mph in 5.86 seconds, and has a top speed of 217 mph.

In June 2025, the production SU7 Ultra completed a lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 7 min 04 s 957, becoming the fastest production electric car in history on this circuit. It beat the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Weissach (7' 07''55) and the Rimac Nevera Time Attack (7' 05''30). Its performance even surpasses that of the Tesla Model S Plaid (1,020 hp) and the Lucid Air Sapphire (1,234 hp), at a price of €64,000 in China, which is two to three times less than a Taycan Turbo GT.

Technology and design: Xiaomi's DNA in the automotive industry

The HyperOS system is the major selling point of this Chinese sedan. This interface allows for complete integration with the Xiaomi ecosystem: smartphones, connected objects, home automation. Jim Farley, CEO of Ford, said after six months of testing: "Xiaomi's software integration is well above what we offer today."

At 4.997 meters long, the SU7 exceeds the Tesla Model 3 in size. Its drag coefficient of 0.195 Cd makes it one of the most aerodynamic sedans on the market. The 2026 version adds standard LiDAR and dual-chamber air suspension on the Max, further enhancing the vehicle's versatility. The interior features a 1.10-meter HyperVision panoramic screen and a 16.1-inch center screen, all in an elegant body design with a choice of carefully selected paint colors.

Reliability: a Chinese owner drove 265,000 km in 18 months in his SU7 with a battery health status (SOH) of 94.5%. This data, which went viral on social media in China, confirms the robustness of the onboard technology.

Availability in France: why will we have to wait until 2027?

William Lu, president of Xiaomi Auto, confirmed at Mobile World Congress 2025 that the brand would not be marketing its vehicles in Europe before 2027 at the earliest. Xiaomi registered its first SU7 Ultra in Germany (Munich) in July 2025, a sign that European approval tests are underway. Several challenges explain this delay: certification to European standards, setting up a distribution and after-sales service network, and adapting vehicles to local technical specifications (CCS2 plug, connectivity, safety standards).

Lei Jun's strategy is clear: consolidate the Chinese market first. Xiaomi is targeting 550,000 deliveries in 2026 (compared to 411,800 in 2025), with two factories in Beijing. The brand became profitable in the automotive sector in November 2025, a feat achieved in just 18 months after launch, whereas Tesla took several years. This financial strength should accelerate European expansion.

Parallel imports: why it's better to wait

Importers such as CEVM, based in Germany, already offer the SU7 on the European market, but at prohibitive prices: €73,000 to €98,000 for a sedan sold for €28,000 in China. Beyond the cost, these vehicles are equipped with the Chinese GB/T plug, which is incompatible with the European CCS2 standard. Using an adapter limits the charging power to around 90 kW (compared to 350 kW natively on an Electra fast charging station), which negates one of the car's main advantages. Add to that the lack of a manufacturer's warranty and after-sales service, and our advice is to wait until 2027.

What alternatives to the Xiaomi SU7 are available today?

While waiting for 2027, several electric sedans offer comparable performance on the French market.

The Tesla Model 3, recently supplemented by a Standard version at €36,990 (deliveries since February 2026), remains the benchmark in the segment. The Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive version climbs to €44,990 for a WLTP range of 750 km. Please note: manufactured in China (Shanghai), the Model 3 has not been eligible for the CEE bonus in France since July 2025, which puts it at a disadvantage compared to the Model Y produced in Germany. Its main advantage remains the Supercharger network, which is well established in France.

The BYD Seal, available from €46,990 in the Design trim (including a €5,000 discount, offer valid until March 31, 2026), offers a WLTP range of 570 km and Blade Battery technology renowned for its safety. The Chinese alternative is already available in dealerships with operational after-sales service and a 6-year/150,000 km warranty.

The BMW i4, starting at €57,850 in the eDrive35 M Sport trim, is eligible for the CEE bonus (manufactured in Munich) and offers up to 612 km of WLTP range in its eDrive40 version. The Bavarian build quality, the well-established BMW network, and the high residual value make it a safe choice for those who prefer premium.

Our opinion: should we wait for the Xiaomi SU7?

The 2026 Xiaomi SU7 ticks all the boxes: generous range, high performance, cutting-edge onboard technology, and an aggressive price. The Nürburgring record, proven reliability over 265,000 km, and 411,800 vehicles delivered in 2025 are testament to a mature and accomplished product. The equipment-to-price ratio promises to be exceptional on the European market.

However, uncertainty about the final price in Europe, the lack of a distribution network, and a minimum wait of one year argue for an immediate solution if you need a car now. The Tesla Model 3, BYD Seal, and BMW i4 benefit from established infrastructure, solid warranties, and known residual values.

And if the SU7 isn't enough for you, Xiaomi is also preparing the YU7 SUV, the 990 hp YU7 GT, and the SU7 Ultra, the record holder at the Ring. Discover the entire Xiaomi electric range in our comprehensive guide.

A highly anticipated sedan

The Xiaomi SU7 is one of the spearheads of the Chinese automotive industry. With its exceptional performance, innovative connected system, and aggressive pricing, this sedan could shake up the European market starting in 2027. Until then, Electra's competitive charging rates are already supporting all electric sedan drivers on major French and European highways.
