Renault Twingo E-Tech electric: price, range and everything you need to know about the 100% electric city car
The new Renault Twingo E-Tech electric will be commercialized in spring 2026 starting at €19,500 in Evolution trim. With 263 km WLTP range, an 82 hp motor and a 27.5 kWh LFP battery, this 100% electric city car manufactured in Slovenia aims to democratize urban electric mobility. With the CEE grant, its price could drop to approximately €15,300 for modest households.
Thirty-three years after its first appearance, the Renault Twingo returns in a fully electric form. Presented on November 6, 2025 on the Champs-Élysées in Paris, this fourth generation takes up the DNA of the iconic city car while integrating modern technologies. Faced with a declining A-segment (less than 5% of the European market), Renault is betting on maintaining an accessible and compact offer, adapted to the daily trips of urban motorists.
Under €20,000: Renault keeps its promise
Renault kept its promise: the new Twingo E-Tech electric will display an entry price below €20,000. Official prices for France will be confirmed when orders open in early 2026, but Italian prices, announced as similar by the manufacturer, give a precise indication.
The Evolution trim should start at around €19,500, while the Techno version, more richly equipped, would be positioned around €21,100. A difference justified by additional equipment such as the OpenR Link multimedia system with integrated Google, rear camera and automatic climate control.
The Advanced Charge Pack: the option that changes everything
For those who wish to take advantage of fast DC charging, Renault offers the Advanced Charge Pack as an option. Priced at approximately €490 in Italy (similar price expected in France), this pack includes an 11 kW bidirectional AC onboard charger and DC charging capacity up to 50 kW. An option that could appeal to drivers occasionally making longer trips.
Evolution or Techno: which trim to choose?
The range comes in two trim levels, each with generous standard equipment for the segment.
Twingo Evolution (entry-level): 10-inch central touchscreen with smartphone replication, manual air conditioning, cruise control, sliding rear bench, rear parking assistance and 16-inch wheels with hubcaps.
Twingo Techno: OpenR Link multimedia system with integrated Google (Maps, Assistant, Play Store), digital rear camera, automatic climate control, hands-free card, adaptive cruise control, One Pedal function with regenerative braking and 18-inch wheels.
Four colors are available: Absolute Green, Absolute Red, Mango Yellow and Starry Black.
263 km range: the LFP battery bet
For the first time on a Renault vehicle, the Twingo E-Tech adopts a 27.5 kWh LFP (Lithium-Iron-Phosphate) battery supplied by CATL. This technology has several advantages: better durability over time, superior thermal stability and the absence of cobalt and nickel in its composition. A choice that also allows controlling production costs.
With this battery, the Twingo displays a range of 263 km in WLTP cycle when equipped with 16-inch wheels. In Techno version with 18-inch wheels, this range drops slightly to around 250 km. Values perfectly adapted to urban and peri-urban uses, knowing that the average daily trip in France is around 35 km.
A featherweight for controlled consumption
The contained weight of the city car (1,200 kg) contributes to this energy efficiency. It's one of the lightest electric cars on the market, a rare asset at a time when city cars are gaining weight. In Techno trim, the One Pedal function allows recovering energy when braking, with four intensity levels adjustable via steering wheel paddles.
Charging: 30 minutes is enough to go
As standard, the Twingo E-Tech has a 6.6 kW AC onboard charger. On a home wallbox or public AC charging point, count about 4 hours for a complete charge from 10 to 100%. On a reinforced domestic socket (Green'Up), complete charging takes one night.
With the Advanced Charge Pack (optional), the AC charger goes up to 11 kW and compatibility with DC fast charging up to 50 kW is added. Result: the Twingo recovers 10 to 80% of its battery in 30 minutes on a fast charging point. The 11 kW charger is also bidirectional, paving the way for V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) to power electrical appliances.
Where to charge your Twingo in France?
With the Advanced Charge Pack, your Twingo E-Tech can take advantage of Electra fast charging stations present throughout the French territory. Thanks to its 50 kW DC capacity, you recover enough range for your week during a coffee break of about twenty minutes.
Electra rates remain transparent and competitive: €0.49/kWh without subscription via the app, or €0.29/kWh with the Electra+ subscription. For a 10 to 80% charge, this represents less than €10 without subscription, or about €6 with Electra+.
CEE grant: up to €4,200 purchase aid
Good news for future buyers: the Twingo E-Tech will be eligible for the "Boost" CEE grant in effect since July 2025. This aid, which replaces the former ecological bonus, can reach €4,200 for modest households (deciles 1 to 5) and €3,100 for other households. The city car meets all criteria: new electric vehicle, price below €47,000, weight under 2,400 kg and European production.
What final price according to your profile?
Here are the estimated prices after deducting the maximum CEE grant (€4,200):
· Twingo Evolution: approximately €15,300
· Twingo Techno: approximately €16,900
· Twingo Evolution + Advanced Charge Pack: approximately €15,800
Regarding social leasing, the Twingo E-Tech could be available during the 2026 edition (commercialization planned for spring 2026). Terms will be confirmed by the government in the coming months.
Neo-retro design: the Twingo reconnects with its origins
The new Twingo doesn't deny its origins. Its rounded look, its grille with a slight smile and its compact shapes immediately recall the 1992 city car that revolutionized the segment. But beneath this neo-retro silhouette hides a resolutely modern vehicle.
With its 3.78 meters long (compared to 3.62 m for the Twingo 3), this fourth generation gains in habitability without losing its urban agility. Its turning diameter of 9.87 meters remains remarkable for a car in its category, facilitating urban maneuvers.
A 360-liter trunk in 3.78 meters
The standard 5 doors and sliding rear bench (16 cm travel) optimize space according to needs. The trunk can accommodate up to 360 liters with the bench advanced, a generous value for an electric city car. The folding front passenger seat allows transporting long objects, perpetuating the practical spirit of the original Twingo.
On board: screens, colors and AI assistant
The colorful dashboard breaks with the austere interiors of some competitors. Two screens (7 inches for instrumentation, 10 inches for multimedia) display playful animations developed specifically for this model. In Techno trim, the AI assistant "Reno", based on ChatGPT, answers questions and can adjust certain vehicle parameters by voice.
24 driving aids: safety to the next level
Despite its accessible price positioning, the Twingo E-Tech doesn't skimp on safety. It embeds up to 24 driving assistance systems, an equipment level worthy of the upper segment. Among them: automatic emergency braking (including in reverse), occupant safe exit alert, blind spot detection, lane keeping and adaptive cruise control.
In Techno trim, the OpenR Link system with integrated Google offers a complete connected experience. Google Maps integrates an electric vehicle route planner that automatically calculates necessary charging stops based on remaining range and displays real-time charging point availability. Access to the Google Play Store allows downloading more than a hundred compatible applications.
Against the Spring and ë-C3: who wins?
In the affordable electric city car segment, the Twingo E-Tech arrives with solid arguments. Here's how it positions itself against its main competitors:
Model | Price | Range | Power | DC Charging |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Renault Twingo E-Tech | €19,500 | 263 km | 82 hp | 50 kW (option) |
Dacia Spring | €18,900 | 225 km | 65 hp | 30 kW |
Citroën ë-C3 | €23,300 | 320 km | 113 hp | 100 kW |
Fiat 500e | €29,900 | 320 km | 95 hp | 85 kW |
Against the Dacia Spring, the Twingo offers superior range (+38 km) and increased power, while remaining in a similar price range. Compared to the Citroën ë-C3, it positions itself nearly €4,000 cheaper, offsetting lower range with first-class technological equipment. The Fiat 500e, €10,000 more expensive, addresses a different clientele, more sensitive to style than price/equipment ratio.
When can you order the electric Twingo?
The Twingo R Pass program already allows future buyers to pre-register to benefit from priority access when orders open. This system, already proven with the Renault 5 and Renault 4 E-Tech, offers exclusive benefits to early registrants.
Provisional calendar:
· Early 2026: opening of orders (Techno trim first)
· Spring 2026: first deliveries
· Second half 2026: availability of Evolution trim
Production is ensured at the Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia, historic manufacturing site for Twingo 2 and 3. This European location guarantees eligibility for French government aid.
With this new Twingo E-Tech, Renault proves that it's possible to offer a modern, well-equipped and accessible electric car for under €20,000. In a market where electric city cars struggle to drop below €25,000, this aggressive pricing strategy could well revive interest in the A-segment and accelerate the transition to electric mobility for urban motorists.
