New electric cars 2026: the 15 most anticipated models
2026 should be a year rich in electric novelties. Prices will range from less than 20,000 euros for the Renault Twingo E-Tech to over 500,000 euros for the first electric Ferrari. Between democratization and technological innovation, the electric market finally offers an alternative for every motorist. Here are the models that will make headlines.
Affordable electric city cars confirmed for 2026
Renault Twingo E-Tech: the return of the icon at a bargain price
Renault unveiled its new Twingo E-Tech on November 6, 2024, confirmed for spring 2026. With a starting price below 20,000 euros (approximately 15,000 euros after bonus), this neo-retro city car aims to democratize urban electric vehicles. Its 27.5 kWh LFP battery supplied by CATL powers an 82-horsepower motor for 263 km of WLTP range. Basic charging remains modest at 6.6 kW, but the "Advanced Charge" option allows reaching 50 kW in DC, or 30 minutes to go from 10 to 80%. Produced in Novo Mesto, Slovenia with 40% Chinese components to optimize costs, it maintains its eligibility for European aid and even offers bidirectional V2G charging as an option.
Volkswagen ID.2: the German response to the Renault 5
Volkswagen counterattacks in fall 2026 with the ID.2, which could be marketed under the name ID.Polo to better appeal to the general public. Based on a simplified version of the MEB platform with front motor, it will offer two battery levels: 300 km in the base version and up to 450 km for the long-range version. The price will remain under 25,000 euros, positioning confirmed by the manufacturer to compete with the Renault 5 E-Tech. Volkswagen relies on its dealer network, one of the densest in France, to reassure buyers about after-sales service and maintenance.
Audi A2 e-tron: premium becomes accessible
Audi could make its entry into the electric city car segment with the A2 e-tron planned for 2026. This urban crossover would take the technical basis of the Volkswagen ID.3 but adopt a more upscale positioning with a body that would evoke the old A2 from the 2000s. The targeted range would be 400 km and the price would be around 30,000 euros, which would represent a first for the brand with the rings in this price segment. Prototypes spotted in recent months confirm a compact but elevated silhouette, in keeping with current trends.
Skoda Epiq: space above all
The Skoda Epiq concretizes the Czech manufacturer's offensive on the electric urban SUV segment. This 4.10-meter model confirmed for 2026 focuses on habitability with a 475-liter trunk and the "Simply Clever" practical solutions dear to the brand. The design faithfully reproduces the concept presented with its T-shaped light signatures and cubic shapes optimized for interior space. At 25,000 euros announced price, Skoda wants to offer more volume and practicality than classic city cars for the same budget.
Electric SUVs arriving in 2026
DS N°7: XXL French range
DS launches the N°7 in early 2026, successor to the DS 7 Crossback. This family SUV on STLA Medium platform embeds a 97.2 kWh battery that should allow it to reach 750 km of WLTP range, a record in this category if the figures are confirmed. French luxury is expressed in a refined interior with the latest technologies from the Stellantis group, while fast charging at 150 kW limits stop times on long trips. At approximately 55,000 euros according to initial estimates, DS targets a premium clientele seeking prestige, comfort and exceptional range for travel.
Toyota C-HR+ electric: the late but promising conversion
Toyota could finally launch a 100% electric version of the C-HR during 2026. The Japanese manufacturer promises more than 600 km of range thanks to a large-capacity battery developed with its historical partner Panasonic. At approximately 35,000 euros if rumors are confirmed, Toyota would rely on its legendary reliability reputation to convince its clientele traditionally attached to hybrid. The Toyota network with its 300 service points in France guarantees accessible maintenance throughout the territory, a crucial argument for buyers worried about electric after-sales service.
Nissan Leaf new generation: the pioneer reinvents itself
Nissan completely transforms its Leaf mid-2026, after more than ten years of career and 500,000 units sold worldwide. This third generation confirmed abandons the old platform to adopt the modern CMF-EV architecture of the Ariya, which allows bringing range to 530 km WLTP according to the manufacturer, nearly double the old model. The design radically breaks with the conservative lines of the past to adopt a dynamic and modern style. At 36,000 euros estimated price, Nissan maintains competitive positioning to continue democratizing electric vehicles.
Volvo EX60: the safe family SUV
Volvo should unveil the EX60 in early 2026, electric version of the best-selling XC60. The new SPA3 platform allows reducing production costs and therefore the selling price, which could align with the current hybrid XC60 at approximately 60,000 euros. Range would exceed 600 km with a large-capacity battery, while safety remains the absolute priority with the latest driving assistance technologies. This crucial model must allow Volvo to compete with the Tesla Model Y in the premium family SUV segment.
Kia EV2: the affordable Korean urban SUV
Kia confirms the arrival of the EV2 for summer 2026, a small 4.20-meter urban SUV with characteristic cubic design. Direct rival to the Renault 4 E-Tech, it targets a price under 30,000 euros with a 58 kWh battery offering between 400 and 450 km of range according to initial data. The angular lines of the concept are preserved with 18-inch wheels that give it a robust look. The 7-year warranty remains Kia's strong argument against competition that struggles to offer such coverage.
Electric sedans redefining the segment
BMW iX3 Neue Klasse: the technological revolution
BMW launches in March 2026 its new iX3 based on the revolutionary Neue Klasse platform. The announced characteristics surpass all competition: more than 800 km of WLTP range and ultra-fast charging at 400 kW that allows recovering hundreds of kilometers in less than 15 minutes. The energy density of batteries increases by 30% thanks to new chemistry developed in-house. The interior creates a sensation with its panoramic head-up display across the entire width of the windshield. At 71,950 euros announced starting price, BMW positions this iX3 as the absolute technological reference of the segment.
Mercedes C-Class electric: luxury without compromise
Mercedes electrifies its flagship sedan during 2026 with a 100% electric C-Class on the new MB.EA platform. The 94 kWh battery should allow nearly 800 km of range while the 800V architecture enables charging at 330 kW. Mercedes abandons the controversial futuristic designs of the EQE and EQS to return to a more classic and reassuring silhouette. The latest generation MBUX system with artificial intelligence transforms the user experience. Expected price: approximately 65,000 euros for this sedan that wants to prove that luxury and electric go hand in hand.
Kia EV4: the sedan that breaks the codes
Kia would be preparing the arrival of the EV4 for 2026, its first 100% electric sedan. With 625 km of WLTP range thanks to an 81.4 kWh battery and a 204-horsepower motor according to preliminary data, it would display the best range/price ratio in the segment at approximately 39,000 euros. The proven E-GMP architecture guarantees reliability and performance, while the unique 7-year warranty on the market completes the convincing. Kia wants to prove that premium benefits can be offered for a contained price.
Hyundai Ioniq 3: the versatile sporty compact
Hyundai should unveil the Ioniq 3 in 2026, a compact sedan with ultra-aerodynamic "Aero Hatch" design prefigured by the Three concept. The E-GMP architecture would allow reaching 500 km of WLTP range for a targeted price around 35,000 euros. This compact would position itself against the Volkswagen ID.3 and Renault Mégane E-Tech with complete technological equipment and especially a sporty N version of over 400 horsepower also planned. Hyundai wants to prove that electric can be practical, affordable and fun at the same time.
Renault Mégane E-Tech restyled: the necessary renewal
The Mégane E-Tech benefits from a deep restyling in 2026 to correct its main defects. Goodbye to LG batteries limited to 60 kWh, hello to new AESC batteries produced in Douai which could take up the 87 kWh capacity of the Scénic according to some sources. Expected result: more than 600 km of WLTP range finally available. The design adopts the new Renault language of the Scénic and Austral for range coherence. The price should drop to around 35,000 euros to better confront the VW ID.3. Renault even mentions an EREV version with range extender with the 1.5 Horse gasoline engine to seduce the last holdouts.
Electric sports cars that make you dream
Alpine A110 electric: the emotion challenge
Alpine stops production of the thermal A110 mid-2026 to immediately switch to a 100% electric version. The new generation is based on the APP platform specially developed to reconcile performance and relative lightness. Engineers positioned battery modules behind the seats to preserve the 43/57 mass distribution that makes the model's DNA. With approximately 400 horsepower and 450 km of announced range, Alpine wants to prove that emotion can survive without the noise of the four-cylinder. The technical and emotional challenge is immense for this brand whose identity remains intimately linked to combustion.
Ferrari Elettrica: excellence without compromise
Ferrari should present during 2026 the definitive characteristics of its first 100% electric car. This four-seat GT would develop more than 1000 horsepower thanks to four electric motors (one per wheel). The announced performances defy understanding: 0-100 km/h in less than 3 seconds, more than 300 km/h top speed, approximately 500 km of range. To recreate emotion, Ferrari would be working on amplifying vibrations from electric motors. Expected price: at least 500,000 euros for this technological showcase that must prove that Ferrari remains Ferrari, even in electric.
