Zeekr, Geely’s premium brand

Founded in 2021, Zeekr was born out of Geely’s desire to position a purely electric brand in the premium segment. The Hangzhou-based conglomerate has owned Volvo Cars since 2010, as well as Polestar, Lotus, Lynk & Co, and a stake in Smart with Mercedes-Benz. This affiliation is reassuring, as Zeekr shares platforms, battery cells, and R&D centers with Volvo and Polestar.

The brand is built on Geely’s SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform, capable of supporting an 800-volt architecture. The batteries are supplied by CATL. Following its launch in Sweden, the Netherlands, and Germany in 2024, Zeekr will complete its rollout in France in April 2026 with showrooms in Paris, Lyon, Rennes, Aix-en-Provence, Fréjus, and Saint-Étienne.

Four models will make up the French lineup at launch. The prices listed are list prices including tax and European import duties, excluding options and subsidies (Zeekr vehicles are not eligible for either the eco-bonus or the Coup de Pouce CEE since they are manufactured in China).

Focus on the Zeekr 001: the flagship

The Zeekr 001 is the brand’s flagship model. This 4.97-meter-long shooting brake combines the silhouette of a hunting station wagon with the performance of a sports sedan. The lineup consists of four versions: Long Range RWD (€59,990, 620 km WLTP), Performance AWD (€66,990, 594 km), Privilege AWD (€71,990, 585 km), and Sport Edition AWD (€73,990).

The most powerful version delivers 580 kW (789 hp) and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds. The CATL battery, with a usable capacity of 100 kWh, is based on an 800-volt architecture that supports fast charging up to 360 kW: 10% to 80% in under 20 minutes at a compatible charging station. Inside, a 15.4-inch central display, a 16-speaker Yamaha sound system, Nappa leather upholstery, and a panoramic sunroof are standard starting with the Privilege trim. A 10-year or 200,000 km warranty is included.

Focus on the Zeekr 7X: the large family SUV

The 7X is the family SUV of the lineup, measuring 4.82 m in length. Three versions: Core RWD (€52,990, 75 kWh battery, 480 km WLTP), Long Range RWD (100 kWh battery, 615 km), and Privilege AWD (€62,990, 100 kWh, 543 km, 646 hp). The entry-level 75 kWh version boasts a killer feature: a 10-80% charge in just 13 minutes at a 360 kW charging station. The versions with the larger battery take 16 minutes for the same charge.

Inside, the 7X prioritizes space: 5 seats (not 7, despite the name), a generous trunk, customizable ambient lighting, and a large 16-inch central screen. The Privilege AWD version goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. To compare with other models, check out our selection of the best electric SUVs of 2026.

Zeekr X and 7GT: the other models in the lineup

The Zeekr X is the brand’s entry-level model. This 4.45-meter urban SUV is available in three versions: Core RWD (€37,990, 272 hp, 330 km WLTP), Long Range RWD (340 hp, 405 km), and Privilege AWD (496 hp, 415 km). It is one of the few compact SUVs to offer an all-wheel-drive system with nearly 500 hp for under €50,000.

The 7GT is the sporty station wagon (a more affordable shooting brake than the 001), starting at €45,990. It directly competes with the Audi A6 e-tron Avant and the BMW i5 Touring, with a claimed range of up to 600 km (WLTP) and the same 800-volt architecture. For those seeking very long range, see our feature on electric cars with the longest range.

800-V Architecture and Ultra-Fast Charging

The technological feature common to the entire French Zeekr lineup is the 800-volt electric architecture. Compared to the standard 400-volt system, it reduces heat loss, lightens the wiring, and, most importantly, allows for significantly higher DC charging power. The Zeekr 001, 7X, and 7GT support up to 360 kW of peak power, placing the Chinese brand on par with the best European models (Porsche Taycan, Audi e-tron GT, Hyundai Ioniq 5).

To fully exploit this potential, a network of fast-charging stations capable of delivering these power levels is required. Electra fast-charging stations are equipped with charging points capable of up to 400 kW, allowing a Zeekr 7X to regain approximately 200 km of range in just a 10-minute stop.

Zeekr vs. Tesla, Polestar, BMW, and Mercedes

In the premium electric SUV segment, Zeekr is making a bold price-based statement. The 7X Long Range, with its 615 km WLTP range, compares to the Tesla Model Y Long Range (around €49,990, 600 km), the BMW iX3 (starting at €71,950 for the 50 xDrive), and the Mercedes GLC EQ (starting at €70,000). In terms of price-to-performance ratio, the Chinese model is unbeatable compared to the German ones. The Zeekr 001, meanwhile, competes with the Polestar 4 (starting at €65,900) and the BMW i4 (around €60,000), with a top-of-the-line 789-hp version that plays in a higher performance league.

The 10-year/200,000 km warranty is a strong selling point, exceeding the standard 8-year/160,000 km warranty on the European market. The real weaknesses at this stage lie in the service network (currently being rolled out, with fewer than ten service centers announced in France by mid-2026), the unknown residual value, and the lack of an eco-bonus.

European customs surcharge and impact on prices

Since October 31, 2024, the European Union has applied additional customs duties on electric vehicles imported from China, on top of the 10% standard duty already in effect. These surcharges, valid for five years, were calculated by brand based on the level of Chinese subsidies identified. For the Geely Group (which includes Zeekr), the rate is 18.8%, compared to 17.0% for BYD, 7.8% for Tesla, and up to 35.3% for SAIC (MG).

In practice, the French prices for Zeekr announced in April 2026 already incorporate these tariffs. The brand has chosen not to pass on the full surcharge to the end customer. In the medium term, Geely is exploring the production of certain Zeekr models at the group’s European plants (notably Volvo in Belgium), which would allow it to avoid the surcharge. Frequently Asked Questions About Zeekr in France

When can I order a Zeekr in France?

Orders have been open since April 2, 2026, on the official Zeekr website and at select partner retailers. The first deliveries will begin in May 2026 for the entry-level Zeekr X and 7X, and in July 2026 for the 001 and 7GT.

Is the Zeekr eligible for the eco-bonus?

No. All Zeekr models are manufactured in China, which excludes them from the French eco-bonus (which requires a minimum eco-score that takes into account the carbon footprint of manufacturing and transportation). The prices listed are therefore the net prices for individual customers.

What is the warranty on a Zeekr?

Zeekr offers a comprehensive 10-year or 200,000 km warranty, one of the longest on the European market. This warranty covers the battery, the electric powertrain, and critical components.

Do all Zeekr models use an 800-volt architecture?

The Zeekr 001, 7X, and 7GT feature an 800-volt architecture, with DC charging capable of up to 360 kW. The more affordable Zeekr X features a 400-volt architecture with DC charging capped at approximately 150 kW.

Key Takeaways

With four models available starting in April 2026 (X, 7GT, 7X, 001), widespread 800-volt architecture, WLTP ranges of up to 620 km, ultra-fast 360 kW charging, and a 10-year/200,000 km warranty, Zeekr is entering the French market with a strong track record. The value for money is unbeatable compared to German brands, and its ties to Geely (Volvo, Polestar) offer reassurance regarding technical quality. The real concerns remain the nascent service network, the lack of an eco-bonus, and an unknown residual value.
