Mitsubishi electric car: 2025 range and 2026 novelties
Are you looking for an electric or plug-in hybrid car from Mitsubishi? The three-diamond brand offers a complete electrified range, from the family Outlander PHEV to the Eclipse Cross with its coupe look. But the real question today is: should you go for a current model or wait for the arrival of the brand's first 100% electric SUV in 2026?
Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV 2025: the flagship returns
The Outlander PHEV is Mitsubishi's essential model. A pioneer of plug-in hybrid SUVs since 2013, it returns in 2025 with a fourth generation that raises the bar even higher. This 4.72 m family SUV addresses drivers who want to drive electric daily without giving up the freedom of long trips.
An electric range of 85 km
With 85 km of range in 100% electric mode (WLTP cycle), the new Outlander PHEV ranks among the best plug-in hybrid 4x4 family SUVs. Its 22.7 kWh battery allows covering almost all home-work trips without consuming a drop of fuel. For longer journeys, total range reaches 844 km thanks to the 53-liter tank.
In terms of performance, the Outlander combines a 2.4L MIVEC thermal engine with two electric motors for a combined power of 302 hp. 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 7.9 seconds. Figures that place this family SUV at the top of the basket against the Kia Sorento, Hyundai Santa Fe or Toyota RAV4 hybrids.
The S-AWC all-wheel drive: Mitsubishi expertise
What really distinguishes the Outlander from its competitors is its Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) system. This in-house technology, inherited from the legendary Pajero and Lancer Evolution, analyzes road conditions in real time and adjusts torque distribution between the four wheels. Result: exemplary traction on snow, dirt or wet asphalt.
Seven driving modes allow adapting vehicle behavior: Normal, Eco, Power, Tarmac, Gravel, Snow and Mud. The Outlander PHEV represents the ideal choice for families who aren't yet ready to switch to 100% electric on long trips, but who want to enjoy electric driving daily.
Price, trims and warranty
The Outlander PHEV 2025 starts at €49,990 in Invite trim. Five trim levels are offered: Invite, Business, Intense, Instyle and Instyle+. Standard equipment is already generous with leather upholstery, head-up display, tri-zone air conditioning and 12.3-inch touchscreen.
Mitsubishi's real asset lies in its manufacturer warranty: 8 years or 160,000 km (5 years manufacturer warranty + 3 years extension subject to conditions). The traction battery also benefits from 8 years of coverage, and the anti-corrosion warranty extends to 12 years. A rare peace of mind in the automotive industry.

ASX and Eclipse Cross PHEV: Mitsubishi's core range
Below the imposing Outlander, Mitsubishi offers two compact electrified SUVs to meet different needs: the ASX for the city and the Eclipse Cross PHEV for those who want a more assertive style.
Mitsubishi ASX: the hybrid urban SUV
The ASX represents the entry-level SUV at Mitsubishi. This compact SUV shares its technical base with the Renault Captur, fruit of the alliance between the two manufacturers. A reassuring relationship in terms of reliability and spare parts availability.
Since June 2025, the ASX offers the new 158 hp 1.8 hybrid engine, exempt from ecological penalty thanks to its emissions below 100 g/km of CO2. This full hybrid powertrain allows driving electrically over short distances (up to 70 km/h) without ever needing to plug in the vehicle. The hybrid ASX starts at €31,990 in Invite+ trim, about €2,000 more than its Captur cousin. A difference justified by Mitsubishi thanks to its 8-year warranty.
Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross PHEV: the alternative with coupe look
The Eclipse Cross PHEV addresses those who want to stand out with a more expressive design. Its sloping roofline and worked optics give it the allure of an elevated coupe. Under the hood, we find Mitsubishi's proven plug-in hybrid technology: a 2.4L MIVEC engine coupled with two electric motors and S-AWC all-wheel drive.
With its 13.8 kWh battery, the Eclipse Cross PHEV offers up to 55 km of range in 100% electric mode in the city (45 km in WLTP mixed cycle). Sufficient range for daily trips without consuming fuel. The combined power of 188 hp ensures correct performance, while the S-AWC system guarantees reassuring road holding.
The current model is offered from approximately €39,990. For buyers who spot an Eclipse Cross PHEV at the dealership, it's an opportunity to enjoy proven technology with the famous Mitsubishi 8-year warranty, before the arrival of the 100% electric version.
The future: Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross 100% electric (2026)
This is the big novelty awaited by brand enthusiasts. The new Eclipse Cross marks Mitsubishi's return to the 100% electric vehicle market in Europe, more than 15 years after the pioneer i-MiEV. And this time, the brand strikes hard.
Renault technology serving Mitsubishi design
The electric Eclipse Cross is based on the Alliance's CMF-EV platform, the same as the Renault Scénic E-Tech. A proven technical base that guarantees first-rate performance. But unlike the ASX and Colt (clones of the Captur and Clio), Mitsubishi has worked more on the design of its electric SUV.
The front displays the new "Dynamic Shield 2.0" signature specific to Mitsubishi, with a honeycomb grille and distinctive LED lights. The 20-inch triangle-shaped alloy wheels and integrated door handles reinforce the modern and technological look. The advantage for the customer: Japanese design and warranty combined with French electric technology (integrated Google, good range).
More than 600 km of range
The electric Eclipse Cross will be launched with a high-capacity 87 kWh battery, offering more than 600 km of range according to the WLTP cycle. Enough to cross France without stress. Four intelligent driving modes allow adapting vehicle behavior to each situation. A version with a 60 kWh battery (about 420 km range) should follow during 2026 to offer a more accessible entry-level.
For charging, the SUV accepts up to 150 kW in direct current, allowing recovery of the necessary energy in only 30 minutes at a fast charger. In alternating current, the 11 kW onboard charger allows a complete charge overnight at home. The Google navigation system integrates intelligent route planning, which automatically calculates optimal charging stops according to remaining range.
An aggressive price: €2,000 less than the Scénic
Good news for buyers: the electric Eclipse Cross is displayed at €44,990 in long-range version (Invite+ trim), €2,000 less than the equivalent Renault Scénic E-Tech. Standard equipment includes the 12.3-inch screen, heated steering wheel, 19-inch wheels and Google navigation system.
Registrations are already open on the Mitsubishi website and commercial launch is scheduled for late 2025, with first deliveries in early 2026. The vehicle will be produced in France, at the Ampere plant in Douai. A non-negligible "made in France" argument.

Why choose Mitsubishi today?
Beyond technical characteristics, several arguments plead in favor of Mitsubishi for your next electrified car. The brand's DNA persists despite electrification.
Japanese reliability. Mitsubishi benefits from a solid reputation for durability. Feedback from first-generation Outlander PHEV owners is excellent, with batteries that retain their capacity over the long term. A guarantee of serenity for a durable purchase.
The most generous warranty on the market. With 8 years or 160,000 km of coverage (battery included) and 12 years of anti-corrosion warranty, Mitsubishi offers one of the best protections in the sector. A weighty argument against the 2-year standard of many European manufacturers.
4x4 expertise. Mitsubishi has mastered all-wheel drive for decades with the Pajero and Lancer Evolution. This expertise is found in the S-AWC system of the Outlander and Eclipse Cross PHEV, among the most accomplished on the market for electrified SUVs.
The best of both worlds. Thanks to the alliance with Renault, Mitsubishi now combines its Japanese DNA (reliability, warranty, distinctive design) with the most advanced French electric technologies (CMF-EV platform, integrated Google system). The future electric Eclipse Cross perfectly embodies this synergy.

Our opinion: buy now or wait?
The Mitsubishi electrified range offers a solution for every profile. The Outlander PHEV 2025 stands out as the obvious choice for families who want the best of both worlds: 85 km of electric range daily and the serenity of thermal for long trips. The Eclipse Cross PHEV seduces with its distinctive design and proven technology.
For those who can wait a few months and who have a charging solution, the future 100% electric Eclipse Cross represents a rare opportunity: 600 km of range, cutting-edge technology and a lower price than the Renault Scénic. All with Mitsubishi's 8-year warranty.
