Today's fun news: Santa Claus switches to electric vehicles!

Let down by his reindeers, Santa Claus swaps his sleigh for EV. The reindeers, exhausted after the last tour, rebelled... Never mind, Santa Claus had already decided to switch to electric vehicles, without waiting for 2035.

Le père noël passe à l'électrique

He's found some nice e-sleighs that will do the trick. But there is still the question of charging time since he only has one night to do the job.

Let's add up the distances between the main cities he has to supply (Lille, Strasbourg, Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux, Rennes and Paris): he should cover about 2,500 kilometres.

We've made some calculations...

If Santa Claus is equipped with an e-sleigh that uses 15 kWh / 100 km, the power consumed will be 375 kWh (25 x 15). By charging on a home socket, it will take 125 hours to charge, and on a public street charging station, it will take 35 hours. Too long!

On a 150 kW charging point, it will only need 2h30 to collect the energy needed to cover the 2,500 km. But if Santa waits a little longer to get a vehicle that supports 300 kW of charging power, a total charging time of 1h15 will be enough to cover these 2,500 km - the ideal solution to take a break halfway through the journey.

So, at Electra, we have less than 1 year left to set up charging stations all over his route - we're going to work hard to achieve it...

See you on December 24, 2022. In the meantime, the whole team wishes you a sparkling and electrifying new year!
